The Early Childhood Program is designed for children ages 3 to 6 that may include any or all of the special education area.
These include programs for children who are speech/language, hearing, visually, physically, emotionally, cognitively impaired, autistic or disabled.
Transportation is provided by the Van Buren Public Schools.

The Preschool Autism Program is developed for children 3 to 6 years of age.
The program focuses on a variety of approaches which include PECS, TEACH and Floor Time.
This class provides pre- academic readiness skills, as well as gross and fine motor development.
Communication, play and socialization enrichment are targeted daily.
Students receive speech and occupational therapy services.
To better meet student needs, the program has a low student to staff ratio.

Bright Beginnings is a preschool program that provides the development of skills in the early childhood curriculum areas that include the alphabet, art, auditory listening skills, self concept, tactile and visual skills, pre- reading and language skills, fine and large motor skills, math music and science.
This program is a half- day, tuition- based program. Transportation is not provided.

The Great Start Readiness Program is a state funded program servicing children who are four years of age by Dec. 1, 2008.
To qualify, the child must be identified by two or more factors that place them at risk.
The program is center based, operating Mon.- Thurs. with a three hour, 10 minute session in the morning and another in the afternoon.
The classroom has 18 students served by one teacher and two paraprofessionals.
The program addresses the needs of families through classroom experiences, home visit and parent involvement.
The curriculum includes alphabet awareness and recognition, science, language, pre-reading, math, fine and large motor skills, music, art, gym and speech therapy to those who qualify.
Transportation is provided by the Van Buren Public Schools.

These programs are offered at the Early Childhood Development Center, 123 S. Edgemont St. in Belleville.
Head Start is a free preschool program for income eligible children 3-5 years of age.
The goal of the program is to better prepare children for entering school.
The programs are offered at St. Anthony Head Start, 409 W.Columbia Ave. in Belleville (699-7493) or at the Sumpter Community Center, 25301 Sumpter Road (1-734-461-1648).
Transportation is not provided.
The Family Resource Center is made possible by a partnership with the Van Buren Public Schools and the Guidance Center and a family resource cente ris housed at the Early Childhood Development Center.
This center is o0pen from 9 a.m.- 4:30 p.m. and follow the school calendar.
There are infant, toddler, preschool groups, child development and home programs available.

The Early Intervention Program provides a multidisciplinary, individualized, family focused service for developmentally delayed infants who are 0-3 years of age.
Students receive a weekly home visit and center base program.
Services are provided through the special education program housed in the Stottlemeyer Early Childhood and Development Center, 34801 Marquette in Westland.
