The Van Buren Eagles No. 3996, located on 9961 Beck Road will be hosting, "That's Amore," on Oct. 11.

The Italian dinner and dance event has raised thousands of dollars for cancer research.

Last year the Eagles raised $25,377.70 for the Comprehensive Cancer Center at Mott's Children's Hospital fo rpediatric cancer research.

This year, "That's Amore" will benefit prostate and ovarian cancer research at the University of Michigan Comprehensive Cancer Center.

The Eagles are in need of items for this event. If you could donate a gift certificate, a service, an item or anything please call 1-734-657-0048 or 699-5265 or email Linda Combs at 777combs@sbc.golbal.net.

Any donations can be mailed to 43732 Crowley Road, Belleville, MI, 48111.

Gifts are tax deductible.

Water warning issued

The city of Belleville water dept. will be conducting routine maintenance on the city fire hydrants, water mains and valves.

The maintenance of the system will begin on Monday and will continue into Oct.

The maintenance will include turning on hydrants to flush the water mains and exercising valves. You may experience a rusty color in the city water.

If you experience an orange color with your water run your faucet until clear.

Although the water may not be appealing in color it is not harmful.

The sedimentation is in the water mains and by flushing the mains it helps keep the sedimentation from accumulating and helps preserve the integrity of the water main and valves for longer use.

It is recommended that if you have serious health problems or a compromised immune system you should drink bottled water until the sedimentation is settled.

Please check the discoloration prior to doing any laundry. The discoloration may stain clothing.

If you have any questions call the Belleville City Hall at 1-734-697-9323.
