There was more than fun in the sun as nine people won prizes, including a mountain bike, an iPod shuffle, gift certificates and tickets to the upcoming "American Idol" show in Detroit at the Turtle Cove Shell-A-Bration held May 31 at the new Turtle Cove Family Aquatic Center of Lower Huron Metropark, near Belleville.

The winners and their prizes were: Grace Brzuchoski, 5, of Howell, who won a mountain bike; Maria Pino, of Southgate, who won an iPod Shuffle; Barbara DeGraw, Belleville, who won two "American Idol" show tickets; Jean Brzuchoski of Belleville, who won a family four-pack to Turtle Cove; Tavo Saucedo, Detroit, who won a Family Four-Pack to Turtle Cove; Sean Stachurski, New Boston, Toys-R-Us gift card; Hunter Moore, Romulus, Toys-R-Us gift card; Odette Ewing, Westland, Toys-R-Us gift card; and Robert Simon, Belleville, Toys -R- Us gift card.
The Shell-A-Bration, a party featuring children's entertainment and prizes, celebrated Turtle Cove, a new $9.4 million facility with two water slides, a zero-depth activity pool, an endless lazy river and a dumping bucket/water playscape that opened May 24.
Located along the Huron and Clinton Rivers, the Metroparks provide a natural oasis from urban and suburban life as well as year round recreation activities and events.
The Metroparks consist of 13 beautiful parks covering 24,000 acres, ten spectacular public golf courses and two marinas on Lake Erie and St. Clair, respectively.
